Guidlines for Writers

Many Colored Brooms is a quarterly literary publication sponsored by Warnborough College, Ireland.

Many Colored Brooms aims to allow writers of all backgrounds to share their work with readers around the world. Subscription to Brooms is FREE!

Simply register to create a login username and password for yourself. Login and you are ready to read or submit articles for consideration.

Submission Details

  1. Many Colored Brooms is published regularly and is open to all writers, whether unpublished or widely published.
  2. We accept poetry, fiction, personal essays, criticism and chapbooks.
  3. Special consideration will be given to Warnborough College students and alumni.
  4. All manuscripts must be unpublished prior to submission.
  5. Manuscripts should contain thematic elements related to the Muse featured in each issue.

Format

  • HTML tags are acceptable (e.g. <b>bold</b>, <i>italicized</i> and <u>underlined</u> text).
  • You can format your submission in a Word Processor and we will try our best to match the layout. Alternatively, you are free to use the online formatting tools to create your own layout.
  • Text must be single spaced with a double space between paragraphs.
  • There is no need to indent paragraphs so please do not do it.
  • No graphics or photos of any kind are allowed in your text unless the copyright for these belongs to you. If you feel that particular graphics are necessary to your work, please notify us at the time of submission.

Deadlines

Manuscripts are accepted for consideration at any time, but the cut off date for specific submissions is one month prior to the publication of that volume.

Other considerations

  • Short stories should not exceed 8,000 words.
  • Poems may be of any length as long as they do not exceed 8,000 words.
  • Chapbooks (collections of work) may only be submitted by students and alumni of Warnborough College’s Creative Writing Programme and will be approved only through special arrangement with the Program Director.
  • All submissions will be notified.
  • First electronic rights are acquired by Many Colored Brooms for all published manuscripts.
  • As this magazine is published online and therefore accessible to people of all ages, graphic content (i.e. language, violence, sex) must be kept to a minimum and used only where necessary.
  • Many  Colored Brooms does not condone plagiarism, copyright theft, wanton rudeness and/or purposeful discrimination of any kind, and reserves the right to remove, withdraw and edit any submissions containing the above. Many Colored Brooms further reserves the right to terminate and ban membership, authorship, and/or the right to comment.
